Wayne Lanter, 1937-2023
...if you are kind hearted and of good character, please leave a message...
Wayne's bio includes the aspects of life to which our culture typically ascribes success. These occupations may illuminate the man, though, like all things, are open to interpretation. Wayne might insist on the importance of not what you do, but that you do and how you do it. Honorably. Honestly. With integrity.
As to what he thought, he would likely reference his writing and poetry and suggest you start reading.
As to who he was, his character, the part with which he concerned himself the most, the part of him that continues in the people with whom he connected, is hopefully illustrated in your stories below.

We are our stories. Studies on consciousness, psychology, memory confirm. We are the people we draw into our realm when we allow them to shape us, guide us, love us and us, them. Then we become greater than the sum of our experiences, something much more.
In 2015, I discovered a significant part of my story was fiction. I reached out to Wayne. He embraced me with love and kindness. He welcomed me home. Over the last eight years, my life and I hope his, became richer, deeper, and more loving. I am devastated by his absence. I wake each day with his hands holding my heart, with the command to not allow my sorrow to ruin this story, but to sculpt it into something beautiful.

"I heard sad news and the Lowery family send you our hearts. Many stories unfolded when I broke the news to Dad and Mom. I give you my best and thank your Dad for helping teach me to walk. Your family is my family."
